Location: Assigned Headquarter / Territory
1. Job Purpose
To achieve assigned sales and collection targets by effectively promoting the company's products among doctors, healthcare professionals, pharmacies, stockists and distributors while developing and maintaining strong professional relationships within the assigned territory.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Doctor & Product Promotion
- Visit doctors regularly as per the approved daily call plan.
- Promote company products ethically and effectively as per approved promotional guidelines.
- Explain product composition, indications, dosage, benefits and other approved product information.
- Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with doctors and healthcare professionals.
- Ensure effective product detailing and maximum prescription generation.
B. Sales Achievement
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales targets assigned by the company.
- Generate secondary sales and ensure consistent product movement in the territory.
- Develop new business opportunities and increase the customer base.
- Monitor territory-wise product performance and take corrective action where required.
C. Distributor / Stockist Management
- Maintain regular contact with distributors, stockists and retailers.
- Ensure adequate stock availability of company products.
- Monitor inventory, expiry, near-expiry and slow-moving products.
- Coordinate with the distributor/CFA for timely supply and market requirements.
- Follow up for outstanding payments as per company policy.
D. Market Development
- Identify new doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and potential business opportunities.
- Conduct regular market surveys and provide competitor information to management.
- Monitor competitor products, pricing, schemes, promotional activities and market trends.
- Expand the company's product presence in the assigned territory.
E. Reporting & Compliance
- Submit daily call reports and other required reports on time.
- Maintain accurate records of doctor calls, sales, orders, collections and expenses.
- Follow the company's reporting system/application and attendance requirements.
- Attend sales meetings, review meetings, training programs and conferences as instructed.
- Comply with all company policies, ethical marketing practices and applicable laws.
3. Performance Parameters (KPIs)
Performance will be evaluated on the basis of:
1. Primary and secondary sales achievement.
2. Doctor call average and productive calls.
3. New doctor/customer addition.
4. Prescription generation and product growth.
5. Distributor/stockist management.
6. Payment collection and outstanding control.
7. Territory coverage and market expansion.
8. Daily reporting and attendance discipline.
9. Productive working days and field activity.
10. Overall territory profitability and business development.
4. Field Work & Discipline
- The employee must remain available in the assigned territory during working hours unless otherwise approved.
- Regular field visits and planned doctor coverage are mandatory.
- Unauthorised absence, false reporting, fake calls, manipulated sales/collection data or violation of company policies may lead to disciplinary action as per company rules.
- All commitments regarding sales, collection and market coverage must be made realistically and achieved within the assigned timeline.
5. Required Skills
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Strong convincing and negotiation ability.
- Basic knowledge of pharmaceutical products and the healthcare market.
- Good territory management and relationship-building skills.
- Target-oriented and result-focused approach.
- Ability to work independently in the field.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office/mobile reporting applications.
6. Qualification & Experience
Qualification: Graduate preferred; B.Pharm / D.Pharm / B.Sc. / relevant qualification preferred.
Experience: Freshers or candidates with relevant pharmaceutical sales experience may be considered, depending on company requirements.
7. Authority & Reporting
The Medical Representative will work under the guidance and supervision of the concerned ASM/RSM/Management and will be responsible for achieving assigned targets and maintaining proper discipline and reporting standards.
Note: The company may modify the employee's territory, responsibilities, targets, reporting structure or working requirements according to business needs.
Product Detailing: Educate physicians and clinical staff on scientific data, drug functions, and new product launches.
Relationship Building: Maintain regular appointments and meetings with doctors, pharmacists, and medical teams within an assigned territory.
Prescription Generation: Influence healthcare providers to prescribe the company's specific medications.
Market Feedback: Gather insights on competitor products and relay customer feedback back to the pharmaceutical company.
Administrative Tracking: Record daily sales calls, manage territory budgets, and report progress toward sales targets.
